Dental emergencies can cause extreme discomfort, and make someone feel very nervous. Don’t worry; we’re here to help!

First Things First

The first thing to do when you have an emergency is to call our Optim Dental office immediately, even if it is after hours.  If you are calling during office hours, we will schedule you in as soon as possible, preferably the very same moment.   Our goal is to keep you comfortable, and protect the future of your tooth. If the office is closed, listen to the recording for our emergency phone line. This number is monitored at all times by one of our team members. Leave a thorough message and your call will be returned as quickly as possible. Our team member will instruct you as to what to do, and when you should be seen.

Keep Broken Teeth Safe

If the tooth is broken or has fallen out, place it in a cup of water. Do not attempt to clean it off. Most of us are very germ-conscious, and want to clean off a tooth after it has fallen on the ground. Unfortunately, scrubbing the tooth off can remove microscopic fibers that aid in tooth re-implantation or enamel bonding. Just place the tooth straight into the cup, and bring it with you.

If you have any of the following emergency condition:

Swelling and pain

Broken fillings or crowns

Abscess or infection

Denture repairs

Children injuries

Please call us at any one of our office locations in the Illinois area.
